There's a job opportunity here at the ranch. It's the ideal place for folks that love beautiful country living, and there's even free boarding for up to two horses. There's room for more horses if you have them. There's access to fishing and hunting, hiking, and lots of room for long horseback rides. In exchange we need someone that really knows and loves horses and is very dependable.

RANCH CARETAKER

Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

Experience working with and around horses.
Ability to recognize health problems and dangerous horse behavior
Ability to safely saddle, bridle, and load horse in trailers
Experience administering maintenance drugs and treating minor injuries
Knowledge of livestock fencing installation and repair methods including electric fence
Ability to install and repair livestock fences including electric fences
Ability to lift  bales and feed bags and clear ice on water sources
Experience operating  tractors, pickups, four-wheeler’s, lawn equipment and other ranch and livestock equipment. The ability to perform routine maintenance is beneficial, but not essential.

 

Routine Duties:

Feed livestock daily
Clean stalls and disperse waste
Administer routine medications
Exercise and groom horses as directed
Check for illness or injures to livestock and take appropriate action
Secure and supervise the ranch property and activities in the owners’ absence
Check horses hooves, alert Max or Bobbi when they need attention, and assist farrier when needed
Pick up and haul necessary feed and supplies
Check, and where necessary, repair fences, gates, cattle guards, electric fence and power supply
Check and maintain livestock water supplies and construct/reconstruct water gaps when needed
Load and trailer horses as needed
Water and mow lawns adjacent to the caretakers house, the barn show pens and mow/trim grass along electric fences.
Conduct routine cleaning and maintenance of ranch equipment and vehicles and monitor for scheduled maintenance/repairs including oil and filter changes every 3000 miles, (300 hours) or 6 months, and grease every 10 hours or 6 months.
Winterize all the ranch vehicles and equipment every fall prior to the first freeze and prep for use every spring.

Regular, thorough and efficient communications with owners regarding work progress, activities at the ranch, and livestock and equipment condition
Maintain a safe, healthy, clean and orderly work area
Assure livestock health and safety and maximize performance and condition
Keep the grounds and buildings clean, orderly and attractive
Demonstrate efficiency in energy use, cost effectiveness in purchasing and initiative to suggest operating efficiencies and income enhancements
Maintain a driver’s license valid in the State of Wyoming.

 


This is the log cabin, sitting right by the stream, for the caretaker.
It has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and is quite cozy.
