Big News At The Ranch...

Alitas Jewel has been in training for western pleasure at Vallejo III and she just got a great report card! We've heard from trainer Kiera Robinson who had this to say about her; "Alita is doing great... she's a good thinker and really tries to please...very quiet and easy to be around on the ground as well. I think she will be an excellent futurity prospect this year at 2010 Nationals and an amateur prospect for the maturity next year also. People tend to look your way for good horses that are suited for amateurs and Alita is no different! She has a willing attitude, good size and is progressing in her training very well". Feel free to contact the folks at Vallejo III for more information about Alitas Jewel. (918-257-8383, or www.vallejoiii.com)

Padlock is now in training with Sally Randle, of Randle Performance Horses. Sally's excited to have a Princess Huck baby in her barn, and we'll keep you updated on his training. We're thinking western pleasure, or even a big, smooth moving hunter pleasure prospect. We'll post more updates... please keep an eye on our Talking Waters Ranch Facebook page! (See Sally's web page at www.randleperformancehorses.com)

FABULOUS NEW ARRIVAL!

One of the undisputed great mares of the breed, Princess Huck V, has done it again. She's produced a wonderful bay colt by Rohara Moonstorm. His name is Prairie Moon, he's huge, he's bay, has a big ol' star and two socks on the hind feet. From his very first hour he exhibited the most kind, willing, friendly personality. He's only one day old and he's already got a fan club. This picture of him was taken on his first romp in the pasture, at only 18 hours old. By the way, at one day of age he also leads, moves away from flank pressure, picks up his feet... did we mention how smart he is? Prairie Moon's sire is Rohara Moonstorm who has earned National Championships in Western Pleasure, Western Pleasure Junior Horse, Hunter Pleasure, with a National Top Ten in Working Cow Horse and National Top Ten Futurity Stallion. His foals have garnered an impressive 16 National Championships and 11 National Res. Championships. Moonstorm is owned by Bob & Kathie Hart of Vallejo III, and you can learn more about him at www.VallejoIII.com.

Is it any wonder we're excited about our new colt? With a daddy like Moonstorm and Princess Huck V for a mom... well, Prairie Moon's future is darn near blinding it's so bright!

THE SIBLINGS SMOKE 'EM!

And while we're talking about Princess Huck V... two of her babies, both sired by Rave vf, showed up at the same show recently in Region 13. Princess Raves and Phenominal Raves, full brother and sister separated only by a year, both showed in Western Pleasure. This was Phenominal Raves very first show and he was amazingly calm and self assured, and was ridden to a ribbon in every class by Kiera Robinson. Nice job, Kiera! Here are pictures of brother and sister, who both brought home blue ribbons. Be sure to cheer for them at Region 13 in Indianapolis as well as at U.S. Nationals this fall.

PHENOMINAL RAVES STARTS A NEW CAREER!

Our congratulations to Ron & Becky Rash, the new owners of the great Talking Waters gelding, Phenominal Raves. The Rashs have a wonderful story which we'd love to share with you...

Becky and I want you to know how excited we are about Phenominal Raves joining our family. We don’t buy and sell horses. We find a horse and they become members of our family.

I began my search for a new Horse in January. I looked at hundreds of horses on web sites, another 25+ videos on horses and rode another 20 on our recent trip to the mid west.  Bob Hart, of Vallejo III, told me about the young, big Rave/Princess Huck gelding that he had just started. Mr. Hart had just named two of my all time favorite horses. WOW !!!!!  I can close my eyes and still see Princess Huck in the arena. She was truly a horse that wanted to please. I love that kind of attitude, and I was hoping to find a horse with her kind of mind and willingness to please. I had to hide my excitement.

When we first saw Phenominal Raves we were simply taken back by his soft temperament. We both  silently smiled as we compared him to a slew of other National Top Ten and other quality bred horses that I had ridden in the last few days. Most didn’t move with his rhythm nor were they as soft and willing. Bobbi, I see a Champion in the making!  As he had only been in training a short time I was not expecting what I saw. My first thought as he walked to me was that he was big and correct.  I looked quietly at Becky and said, "Oh my...". He was so kind and soft looking. He looked at Kiera and Mr. Hart with absolute trust. He had wonderful legs, angles, feet and a hip to die for on a purebred. Then Kiera got on him with only 60-75 days of training and I saw the softness, willingness, rhythm and the beautiful movement. The next 30 Minutes were a blur. My wife taped my first ride on him and I have watched it 50+ times. His body, movement, feet, and legs so impressed me. Now my goal is to show him at U.S. Nationals.

Becky and I look forward to meeting you and want to thank you for breeding such a wonderful horse. I want to assure you that he will be loved and taken care of for the rest of his life.

Bobbi Stuckenhoff showed Princess Raves to an exciting Scottsdale Top Ten!

It was an exciting year for us in Scottsdale. After many, many years of watching our horses being shown Bobbi finally got brave and gave it a try. Most folks start with a few small shows first, but Bobbi displayed her confidence in Talking Waters horses by jumping right in to the biggest show in the Arabian horse world. She showed Princess Raves, predictably sired by Talking Waters stallion Rave vf, and out of the breed's greatest mares Princess Huck V. Rave and Princess were National and Res. National Champions in Western Pleasure, so it's no surprise that their daughter should look so lovely at a western jog. Bobbi was the rookie here, and Princess Raves took great care of her, trained to a fair-thee-well by Bob Hart and Kiera Robinson of Vallejo III. Bobbi was very honored to have owned sire and dam, bred and foaled out little Miss PR, and now to have the honor to show her in the arenas of Scottsdale... what a thrill. And a Top Ten! A dream come true.

PUREBRED PINTO ARABIAN
SEE HER ON THE SALES PAGE

Yup. We've got one, and a gorgeous filly she is, too. Mi Oh My is by National Champion Fairview Klassique and out of our National Top Ten halter mare Mi Khemo Lace (Mi Tosk x Khemosabi daughter). This is a filly to set every girls heart on fire, with her classic dishy face, light chestnut mane, high tail carriage, and... could it be... yes... spots! She's going well under saddle and ready for fine tuning for the show ring, and for breeding... well, if you're breeding for Arabs with color you can't do any better than this filly. Please see her video on our Home Page and more photos and info on the Sales Page.

Please contact us for sale information.

We'd like to welcome some new additions to the ranch...

Sunny & Mark Williams have joined us here at Talking Waters. They've moved here to help us with our Arabians. But they also bring with them their own world class cutting horses. Their stallion and mares are all sired by stallions ranked in the top ten of all-time leading cutting horses in the NCHA. They're expecting four babies soon, so the Arab and cutting horse babies will be romping together in our summer pastures - - that'll be a sight!

Sunny is a judge for, and competes in, North American Dog Agility at the highest levels of international competition. Her dogs are some of the most amazing you'll ever see do agility. And when Sunny's not helping us with ranch chores, judging or competing in agility, she'll be teaching dog agility.

What a fun addition to the ranch. Welcome!

2009??

Already. And, boy, are we looking forward to spring!

One of our kids, Raves Khasanova, is doing so well in the show ring we just have to brag. He's been bringing home the ribbons from Scottsdale and Canadian Nationals in everything from Western Pleasure to Ladies Side Saddle and Lead Line. What a great horse. The world could use lots more just like "Khas"! You'll find some great pictures of him below... Be sure to cheer him on in Scottsdale, 2009.

Be sure to check her out when you're visiting Scottsdale!

And our beautiful National Top Ten Mare

Mi Khemo Lace

Boy, there's nothing like a 100% filly foal crop.
Especially when you get a look at these two fillies.

Phenominal Raves
2006 bay colt
(Rave vf x Princess Huck V)

Where does the time go?  Here at TW we have a phenomenal 2006 baby we named, appropriately enough... Phenomenal Raves. Princess Huck V did us proud again, with another huge handsome bay colt. He's sired by Rave vf, and since Rave is now residing in Australia "Phee" may prove to be Rave's last American born baby. This boy's extremely tall and athletic, correct and substantial, and he's one of the prettiest of Princess' babies. We're very excited to see him head to the show ring some day. In the meantime we're having great fun playing with him and watching him grow up.

And this spring  our National Top Ten Halter Mare Mi Khemo Lace is expecting a baby sired by National Champion Stallion Fairview Klassique. We can't wait to see what arrives in our foaling stall this spring. Ahhhhh, Christmas in April!

Stay tuned........

Happy spring to all. Such a lovely time of year... every day is another gift. It's almost like Christmas. Except now the gifts come wrapped in warm sunshine, accompanied by the singing of birds, and are most precious... like luscious green grass, and blooming daffodils. And of course.. the greatest gift for any horse breeder... new foals standing beside their moms for their first taste of warm milk. Princess Huck V will be foaling soon - - we can hardly wait! Stay tuned for pictures.
We just had to share with you the latest foaling update from France. Talking Waters now has a new "granddaughter"...  What a gorgeous addition to our extended family. Just check this out:
She is named Kenelm Kinshasa.

Sired by a Fame vf son Sandstorm and out of Khaptivating Lady (Sanadik el Shaklan x RSD Khaptivation) Thanks to God for sending us this treasure . Be sure she is cherished as she deserves it .

CHANGE... A LITTLE SCARY... A LITTLE EXCITING... ALWAYS GOOD

Life has brought many changes to Talking Waters in the last few years. From the very beginning we've experienced huge successes, from National Championships in the show ring, to beautiful babies arriving every spring. What an amazing business this is. The heart of the Arabian horse - - the huge, kind and dignified heart of the horse - - is a constant source of joy. And we constantly hear from folks that have Talking Waters horses (sometimes many of them!) and they tell us they are the "horse of my dreams" and "my friend for life". The owners touch our hearts as well.

It's now time for another phase for Talking Waters Ranch. It's time to streamline the operation, making some changes, growing and learning in new ways. The hardest thing was to part with many of our incredible horses including the stellar stallion, Rave vf, who, along with some world-class mares, produced such lovely babies for us. They're the ones that put Talking Waters "on the map".

Rave vf  has gone to work siring more invaluable replacement mares for the Bremervale Arabian Stud in Queensland, Australia.  RSD Khaptivation, our lovely Khemosabi daughter, has found a loving home for life with one of her biggest fans, Karine Wright in South Dakota.  Lucky I Been Spotted is now in the show string of George Wiley - - watch for them in the HA WP Jr classes - - they're going to be looking good! Many of the horses were purchased by Glenn Hibbs, of Black Pearl Arabians and Rancho Palmira in Cave Creek, Arizona. Be sure to visit Rancho Palmira during the Scottsdale show - - they'll be having a barn party every day during the show in February. (www.ranchopalmira.com or bparabians.com)  You might even find some of the former Talking Waters horses there - - be sure to ask to see them!

And as for us...

Well, there's no possible way we could ever part with Princess Huck V, or Mi Khemo Lace. They're the horses of our dreams, an unwavering part of our family, and they'll live out their lives happily grazing in our big luxuriant green pastures! Princess is in foal to Rave vf and is due in June 2006. And we're excited about breeding Mi Khemo Lace to a totally new and gorgeous stallion... stay tuned for news on that next spring.

Now we'll have more time to dedicate to our favorite mares, riding the geldings while working on the ranch, and enjoying the beautiful little piece of heaven in which we live.

Another great joy here at the ranch is working dogs... Our beautiful green eyed Border Collie, Jigs, has turned into a budding genius at running Agility, earning his first agility title this fall. The next year will be dedicated to running Agility Trials, and with any luck we'll qualify for the fall Agility Nationals with NADAC (North American Dog Agility Council). So, by all means, just for a change of pace, come to an Agility Trial and watch the dogs do amazing things at high speed. What fun it is! (By the way... for those of you that know and love Whisky, the Miniature Schnauzer who's  my constant companion... she'll be at the trials too. She prefers keeping her eye on me to running agility, but she'll be there with bells on!)

And there's always driving and showing the hot rods...

So... tho' we're smaller, we'll be busy nonetheless. And having a wonderful time. And you'll no doubt be seeing us in the future... in the show ring with a select few, beautiful, new Arabians conceived, born and raised on the lovely pastures of Talking Waters.

We send out our most sincere thanks to everyone that has been a part of Talking Waters horses... It's the people as well as the horses that are special, and that make it all worthwhile. Don't forget - - we love to hear from you...

And every once in a while we'll have an extra special Arabian available for sale. So check in with us!

By all means - - keep us updated on what you're doing with those Talking Waters babies.

See you at the shows!

Here are some photos of Jigs, showing fine form at an agility trial. We're having a lot of fun competing (it's easy when you have such a genius dog!), and hoping to qualify for Nationals in 2006. These great photos were taken by Jerda Smeltzer of Ancestral Voice Photography. Jerda not only does an amazing job of photographing dogs at agility trials and stock working trials, she also does horses and beautiful landscapes. We'd really recommend that you check out her website: www.ancestralvoice.net

KEEPING UP WITH THE KIDS...
This is why we love the Arabian business! Check out this update from Florida...Karen Rizzo and
Mi Lace Reata...

RAVE SON CLEANING UP AT REGIONALS!
Raved About Kisses and his lovely owner Kiera Robinson are wowing 'em at the Regionals. At Region Eleven they were UNANIMOUS CHAMPION in the Western Pleasure AOTR, and Raved About Kisses was also UNANIMOUS CHAMPION with Bob Hart, Jr. in the WP Open. The western competition is always very difficult in Region 9, but Raved and Kiera went Res. Champion. Wow. Better watch for these two at U.S. Nationals this fall!

RAVE HITS ANOTHER CONTINENT!
Rave get can be found in many countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, etc. But this time we have an exciting new program to tell you about... Rise and Shyne, a Rave-look-alike grandson bred in Australia, will be the foundation of a new breeding program in Malaysia! Our congratulations to Rise and Shyne's breeders Peter Rutten of De-Sharvarll Arabians, Leichhardt, Queensland, Australia.

RAVE BABIES SHINE IN THE SHOW RING!

SCOTTSDALE TOP TEN!
Scottsdale was a special event for Sherri Gillam this year. She'd set a goal to show successfully in western pleasure at this year's Scottsdale show, and she and Raves Khasanova (Rave vf x RSD Khaptivation by Khemosabi) did it! Here are Sherri's comments:

"I said when we bought him I wanted to live my dream of riding in the 50th anniversary Scottsdale show and look like I belonged there. And truly I got to do so with Khasanova as “the star!”  He looks like he belongs there and “babysat” me well, even though I navigated like the Novice rider that I am!  We got Top Ten (fifth according to the judges cards).  Khas is a great boy! We love him to death! "

SCOTTSDALE AGAIN...
Mac Jensen is one happy owner. He bought Raves Mardi Gras a few short months ago and already she's won a Grand Champion Filly prize. And if the saying is true... "It's not what you win, it's who you beat", then this filly did an outstanding job! She's showing beautifully with Gary McDonald... Watch for them at the Regional in Reno this July. (And if you see someone with a glow-on near Mardi Gras' stall... that'll be Mac!) Here are Mac's comments on his great filly:

It took me two years of learning and visiting Arabian horse farms from literally the east coast, where
I live, to the west coast before purchasing Raves Mardi Gras.  I first learned about Talking Waters
Ranch when I came face to face with Rave vf in Scottsdale of 2004. Rave vf is arguably the most impressive Arabian stallion I have ever seen. And I have seen almost all of the significant stallions in the breed over the past two years.  Everyone I have met in the industry is smarter than me when it comes to the breed, but for some reason, it was very easy for me to identify the type of Arabian that appeals to me.  I knew almost from Mardi Gras' picture on Bobbi's website that this could be the
horse.  After visiting the ranch and seeing Mardi Gras up close - it was a 30 second decision.  I did not purchase Mardi Gras because of her tremendous pedigree, or her incredible potential in the show ring; I purchased her because of her beautiful and square structure, her graceful and confident movement and her kind disposition. Having Rave vf and a daughter of Huckleberry Bey as parents were a significant plus.  I am not surprised that Raves Mardi Gras has been so well received in the show ring.  She has it all.

THE STORK DELIVERED BIG TIME! ...
Princess Huck V has done the most wonderful thing... she's just given us a beautiful bay filly, sired by Rave vf. She's a big filly  (as are all of Princess' babies), and has a short head that's dishy, wide between the eyes, and pretty as can be with one star in the middle. She seems to be very gentle, friendly and willing - - just like her mom! Pictures coming soon...
